Charitable Giving

  1. Alexandria Have A Heart!

CRWC members were happy to support former City Councilman Frank Fannon’s Alexandrians Have a  Heart food and clothing drive and fundraiser on February 15, 2020.

Our members contributed over $2,500 in cash and other items to benefit Carpenter’s Shelter, A.L.I.V.E., and Christ House.
  1. Alexandria Police Foundation

CRWC and its members are big supporters of law enforcement in the City of Alexandria.

In 2019, we presented over $1,600 to the Alexandria Police Foundation, which is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to providing resources to the Alexandria Police Department to improve officer performance, morale, and effectiveness, and to ensure the care and well-being of its active and retired police dogs. .

Community Lodgings

"Opening Doors to Independence since 1987"
The Commonwealth Club supports Community Lodgings' Youth Education Program for homeless and at-risk neighborhood children in Alexandria.  The program's focus is "self-help and life improvement."

Each year Commonwealth members collect books, toys, and wrapping materials for children in the program and present them to the director.  Gifted items are used to stock the organization's store, where children and parents can purchase them with points for on-time homework and other good behavior rewards.

Toys for Tots

  1. ARCC & CRWC Members at the annual Volunteer Appreciation meeting gather around the donations collected in 2019 for Toys for Tots.
  2. CRWC President Eileen Brackens, Young Republicans Chairman Andrew Lund, and Alexandria Republican City Committee Chairman Sean Lenehan represent their organizations with a joint giving event for Toys for Tots in 2018.
